A government-funded mobile friendly website has been launched in India to create consumer awareness about various brands of medicines, their manufacturers, composition and comparative prices in the market. The website also offers information about health insurance and immunisation.
The site, called medGuideIndia, not just tells consumers about the nature and composition of the medicine but also suggests cheaper alternatives with same composition but a different brand. Users can also know about the brand medicines, how to import drugs for personal use, and other useful information like precautions, symptoms and side effects of a medicine.
The site also talks about the immunisation, reaction to drugs, and also offers news about vaccines, its availability in the market and benefits. Health insurance segment covers the types of insurance, terms and how to buy the best health insurance plans.
The mobile website has been developed by Delhi-based Vinod Kumar Memorial Charitable Trust with funds of Rs 20 lakh by the Consumer Affairs Ministry.
“The mobile website – www.medguideindia.com – is dedicated to provide information on generic medicines and comparative prices,” Consumer Affairs Secretary Rajeev Aggarwal said after the launch.
The site offers complete information and is a must read for people looking for information on medicines, vaccination and health insurance.
