Vivo has introduced a new Under Display Fingerprint Scanning Solution during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2017. The brand has also introduced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Photography Solution targeted for backlighting and night scene photography, and a Hi-Fi solution with a customised DAC decoding chip.
Starting with the Under Fingerprint Scanning Solution, the new technology is based on Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensors. The fingerprint sensor uses ultrasound technology, which the company boasts can penetrate on OLED display that is 1.2mm thick to recognise user fingerprint. The brand further stated the absence of physical button for the fingerprint sensor will further allow a full-screen display, an integrated unibody and mechanical waterproofing design.
Moving to the DSP photography solution, it helps to take a high-quality image and adjust the brightness of the image to make it look better. The brand says, that the solution will allow taking multiple RAW pictures when shooting under complicated lighting condition and the DSP chip will then automatically process and compose a single RAW picture, which is then exported to JPG format by ISP. This will, theoretically, improves the overall quality of the image.
Lastly, the Hi-Fi solution comes with a customised DAC decoding chip, which it claims will improve dynamic range, distortion, and output power. It surpasses the high-quality audio experience of the Xplay6 with an SNR of 122dB, a dynamic range of 120dB, distortion of -111dB, and output power of 2.2VRms.
