MWC 2019: Huawei Mate X 5G foldable smartphone announced

Huawei has finally introduced its first foldable smartphone at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. The smartphone comes with a hefty price point EUR 2,299 ( approx. Rs 2,09,400) and it will go on sale starting from middle of 2019. The phone Interstellar Blue colour option.

The new foldable smartphone comes with multiple unique features. To start with the display, which is all the major selling point of this device, it comes with a 3-way foldable design. Unlike, Samsung Galaxy Fold, which fold on the inside, the Mate X has a outward folding mechanism.

Huawei Mate X

The phone features an 8-inch screen when it is opened and it comes with a of 2480 x 2200 pixels. When folded, the smartphone has a 6.38-inch screen at the back and a 6.6-inch display at the front with a resolutions of 2480 x 892 pixels and 2480 x 1148 pixels respectively.

This is also the first 5G smartphone from the brand. It features a Balong 5000 chip coupled with Kirin 980 chipset. It is capable of delivering up to 6.5Gbps download and 3.5Gbps upload speed. The phone is equipped with an 8GB of along with 512GB of internal storage. The memory can be further expanded up to 256GB via card slot.

For optics, the smartphone has a two-in-one front and rear camera setup, which is powered by Leica. There are three with primary being a 40-megapixel lens, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. There is a phone mirror feature, which display the preview of what they are capturing.

The phone packs two battery packs that jointly offer 4,500mAh battery. The 55W Huawei SuperCharge technology that will deliver 85 percent of power in 30 minutes of charge, a port.
