Sony has today announced four new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2017, which includes two flagship models, Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs along with two mid-range smartphones namely Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra. Xperia XZ Premium will be available globally in Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black, from late Spring 2017, while the Xperia XZs will be available from the beginning of April 2017 in Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black.
Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra will roll out from Spring 2017 with Android N at launch and come in a choice of contemporary finishes including White, Black, Pink and Gold.
Xperia XZ Premium
To start with, the latest flagship device from Sony some interesting features. The device comes with new Motion Eye camera system and it is the first smartphone to feature a memory stacked Exmor RS sensor with technologies usually only found on premium compact cameras. The smartphone sports a 19-megapixel rear camera which supports Super slow motion 960fps video capture, Predictive Capture, Ant-distortion shutter, Triple image sensing technology, predictive Hybrid Autofocus, 5-axis stabilisation and 4K video recording. For the front, there is 13-megapixel Exmor RS for mobile image sensor, 22mm wide angle lens, ISO6400 and Aperture f/2.2.
Talking about the specifications, the device sports a 5.5-inch 4K HDR Triluminous display with X-Reality mobile picture engine and dynamic contrast enhancement coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back panel. The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with Adreno 540 GPU. The phone is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256 via microSD card support.
The smartphone runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat and is juiced up by a 3230mAh battery with Smart Stamina mode and Qnovo adaptive charging. The device also comes equipped with Sony’s native DSEE HX technology which basically up-scales streamed tracks or MP3s to near High-res quality. Also one can play PlayStation 4 console games on the Xperia XZ Premium (how cool is that!).
Xperia XZs
The Xperia XZs sports a similar camera configuration as found in the Xperia XZ Premium. The device sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a screen Resolution of 1080p. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. The phone is backed by a 4GB of RAM and comes in two 32GB and 64GB storage options. The device is IP65/IP68 certified meaning that it is water and dust resistance. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and is juiced up a 2900mAh battery backup with Quick Charge 3.0.
Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra
Coming to the mid-range offering, both the smartphones are powered by a MediaTek helio P20 Octa Core processor along with Mali T880 MP2 GPU. Both of them comes loaded with a 23-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS mobile image sensor, Hybrid Autofocus, 24mm Wide-Angle F2.0 lens and 5x clear image zoom. And both of them runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Xperia XA1 Ultra sports a 6-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and is backed by a 4GB of RAM and up to 32GB and 64GB of internal storage. On the camera front, the XA1 Ultra sports a 16-megapixel shooter with 23mmm wide-angle lens. The phone is powered by a 2700 mAh battery.
The Xperia XA1 features a 5-inch HD display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via micro SD card slot. The Xperia XA1 features an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The device is juiced by a 2300mAh battery.
