Till now in India, all we had in the name of electric cars are the Mahindra e2o Plus and E Verito – both costing a bomb, making them really unattractive. But now the green lovers have something to cheer for. A Mumbai-based startup has announced the launch of a electric car that would cost just about Rs 3 lakh.
The car is named as Strom R3 and it comes in three models – R3 Pure, R3 Current and R3 Bolt. Further it will be offered in two models – AC version having a range of 80 km to top of the line AC version with a bigger battery pack which provides a single charge range of 120 kms. The car comes with two doors. Technically, it however is a trike as it comes with two front wheels and a single rear wheel.
The R3 has a 13 kW motor offering 48 Nm of peak torque and has a single-speed planetary gearbox. As per the company, the Strom R3 can be fully charged in about 6-8 hours with a normal charger and with a fast charger you can get 80 per cent power in 2 hours.
The car also uses electronic regenerative braking technology. The fully electric trike has an edgy design, a muscular front bumper, LED lights and a two – tone paint job with a white roof that comes with a sunroof. Strom will offer the car in four exterior colour options – Electric Blue, Neon Blue, Red and Black . In terms of dimensions, the Strom – R 3 measures 2 , 907 mm in length, 1 , 450 mm in width, and 1 , 572 mm in height, with a 2 , 012 mm wheelbase.
