MTS, a CDMA mobile operator, has launched India’s most affordable Android smartphones called MTS Livewire and MTS MTAG 3.1. Both the phones are locked phones which means users cannot use SIM of other CDMA operators in these phones.
The postpaid users of MTS need to pay only Rs 2,999 for Livewire and Mtag 3.1 for Rs 3,499 with a 12 month contract. For prepaid consumer this is priced at Rs 4,999 (Livewire) and Rs 5,499 (Mtag 3.1) without any contract. Prepaid users get 150 minutes of calls, 150 SMS and 150 MB data free for 12 months with no minimum recharge required.
Though the postpaid users get the devices at a discount, they have to pay a monthly rental of Rs 250 during the contract period of 12 month. However, they do get 250 MB of data, 250 minutes calls and 250 SMSes free every month for 12 months.
Both the smartphones, which were announced a month ago will now be available in stores starting from today. The two smartphones have been positioned as social media enablers for the youth community.

MTS Livewire is equipped with Android 2.2 Froyo and offers high speed CDMA EV-DO network access (3.1 Mbps speed). The phone is made by Chinese handset major ZTE.
MTS MTAG 3.1, which is made by Huawei, comes with a 2.8″ capacitive touch-screen offering 240×320 pixels display. It has 3.2 Megapixel camera. The phone also has the MTS TV application allowing its users access to Live TV and On demand video playback.
Being Android devices, both the smartphones offer Google’s suit of services like Gtalk, Google Map, Youtube etc.
