Motorola announced the Moto Z4 smartphone with Snapdragon 675 and an in-display fingerprint sensor last week but it hasn’t completely forgotten its older Moto devices. The company has started rolling out an update to Android 9 Pie for the Moto Z3 Play and Moto Z2 Force.
Several users have reported on XDA Developers that Android 9 Pie has arrived on their corresponding Moto Z3 Play units. The release notes of the update posted on the Motorola site indicate that besides Android Pie, the Z3 Play also gets the May 2019 batch of Android security updates.
Android Pie on the Moto Z3 Play brings new navigation gestures, Adaptive battery, Adaptive brightness, Redesigned Settings app, Improved audio controls, Zoom in text, new notification dismissal and Bluetooth enhancements.
As for the Moto Z2 Force, it’s been reported that the device is currently receiving Android Pie as part of the soak testing. However, this could also be a final update as it is available through an OTA update. The update on the Z2 Force shifts the build bumper of the phone to PPx29.159-10 and also brings May 2019 Android security updates.
