Motorola is planning to bring more Atrix-laptop doc like device in future, which could be available to the users as an alternative for tablets and especially iPads.
“In the Android ecosystem, there is a need for us to differentiate. Atrix devices with the Webtop and lap-dock we really think there is an alternative way of viewing the convergence between mobility and computing. And we will continue to focus on that,” says the Motorola chief executive officer Sanjay Jha.
One more idea being pursued by the company is to allow the phone to access a quad core Processor in the lapdock so it can perform better. It’s not that the laptop is going to be dead, but some interesting and creative variations are definitely taking shape.
The Motorola Atrix is the first such smartphone to come with an accessory like laptop dock that turns the device into a netbook. But it did not perform well as users felt the price was too high for an accessory for the phone.
Other problems with the lapdock were its choice of operating system.
However, there are some positive aspects of the lapdock as well. It has a full laptop Browser and not a mobile one. Two USB ports are there as well, so users could connect external keyboard and mouse.
