Motorola has announced the second generation Moto X featuring a 5.2-inch Full HD OLED display. The new Moto X was reported so far as the Moto X+1 and even the specifications page of the handset carries the same name in the hyperlink. The second generation Moto X arrives with a design refresh bearing metallic frame on the sides. Also, Motorola will be offering customizable back cover options for this handset too. Motorola plans to make the second generation Moto X available in India by sometime later this month.
The much speculated Moto X+1 handset is formally introduced as the second generation Moto X. One of the interesting design change is the inclusion of the metal frame and the metal effect to the Motorola log as well as the camera module rim.
The new Moto X brings 5.2-inch OLED display with full HD Resolution and has been constructed using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The smartphone offers Pixel density of 423 pixels per inch and aims to deliver vivid colours and crisp text.
Motorola has armed it with a quad-core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC mobile Chipset and 2 GB RAM. By default, the standard version will be sold with 16 GB on-board storage. The 9.97 mm thick second generation Moto X weighs 144 grams.
Motorola has included a 13 Megapixel camera at the back with f/2.25 Aperture for the imaging enthusiasts. One can easily click high resolution images and full HD videos. In the front, it has a 2 megapixel camera capable of holding a full HD video call. Motorola has added WiFi 802.11 ac support for fast mobile web experience and downloads.
Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 LE, micro USB port and standard audio port. Front facing speakers ensure better sound output delivery. Motorola has maintained the 2300 mAh battery capacity even in the second generation Moto X.
The new Moto X brings improvement in the display, processor, camera and design aspect compared to the predecessor model. Certainly it can be considered one of the worthy devices after upcoming Nexus smartphone with Android L.
