After a hiatus of almost a year, Motorola is planning to launch a smartphone in India. Motorola has announced that it will launch its latest handset, called Moto G, in India on February 5. Though there is no official word on its pricing, Moto G is speculated to be available for around Rs 14,000 in India.
“Moto G launch details for India will be announced on February 5. Stay tuned,” Motorola India wrote on its official Twitter account, putting an end to the rumours surrounding the launch of Moto G in India.
It is to be noted that in late 2012, many media reports claimed that the company will shut down its operations in India but though Motorola subsequently denied the reports, it had refrained from launching any device in the country till date.
Motorola Moto G smartphone, which has already been launched in the US market, has created a buzz there with its replaceable back panels. The Motorola Moto G sports a 4.5-inch display with high definition resolution. The Moto G’s display has been constructed using the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology.
This 11.6 mm thick handset is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which has 1.4 GHz clockspeed. The processor is assisted by the Adreno 305 GPU, 1 GB RAM, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The smartphone will also get the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The unique part of this software is that it would be more of pure Android experience without much of custom skin on it.
Moto G will be offered in 8 GB and 16 GB storage but neither version has expandable storage slot. Thankfully, with this handset, users are provided 50 GB Google Drive storage for free for two years. At the rear, Moto G packs a 5 Megapixel camera with Autofocus ability. There is an LED flash as well to assist the rear camera. Besides, the camera is armed with features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face-detection, Panorama and HDR. The camera can record high definition videos. In the front, the Motorola Moto G has a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls.
Motorola Moto G also has WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), quad-band HSPA network support, and a micro-SIM module. Besides, Moto G has Other Bluetooth 4.0, USB host, micro USB 2.0 and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS. The handset has a 2070 mAh non-removable battery.
