Microsoft Windows Phone 7 smartphones are available in India but the operating system has not been officially introduced. Sources have now told The Mobile Indian that Microsoft is preparing for the official launch of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system in India on October 12.
This launch is going to be a major event as the company will formally introduce Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS in India. There are no details on whether any handset partners such as HTC, Samsung or LG will reveal new WP 7.5 devices at the launch.
Microsoft is planning a major Windows Phone centric event for October 12 in India, and we expect the company to show different features of the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and perhaps also demo the Xbox Companion App for Windows Phone. HTC might also show the new Radar and Titan handsets that were announced last month.
Samsung had launched Omnia W smartphone running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update on October 3 in India. Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is a major update for Windows Phone smartphones and is said to be more user-friendly than any other smartphone OS from Microsoft.
Microsoft has already opened the Windows Marketplace and with the launch of Mango users will start receiving relevant Mango apps as well. With that we expect some special India-centric apps to be demonstrated at the launch as well.
