Bad news for Windows Mobile fans! Microsoft has announced that it will no longer focus on its Windows Mobile department. This bit of information comes from the Twitter handle of Windows VP and former Windows Mobile program manager, Joe Belfiore. He wrote, ‘Building new features/hardware are not the focus’.
The company will no longer launch new mobile phones or work on any new project related to it. But for existing Windows Mobile user, Microsoft will continue to support the platform and will continue to provide bug fixes and security updates for the system.
Later, Joe Belfiore said that Microsoft has even tried and paid to App developers for designing apps for the Windows Mobile phones, but since the volume of users is too low, most of the companies do not invest.
Belfiore himself has admitted that hehas switched to Android like Bill Gates due to lack of applications and application support in Windows mobile phones.
