The Surface branded smartphone is expected to sport 8GB of and Snapdragon 830. The smartphone might be unveiled sometime next year.

The smartphone segment has grown immensely in recent times with much more competitors. With Chinese players expanding all over the world, all MNCs are now innovating to survive in the business. Even Apple had to change its strategy and brought phablets though it was once frowning upon Samsung for bringing Note series devices.

So Microsoft has to up the game immensely and need to something special to revive its fortunes in the smartphone market.
