Microsoft has revealed two new smartphones, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. Both the phones will be released in 3G as well as 4G variants. The Lumia 640’s 3G variant carries a price tag of 139 Euro or Rs 9,615 approximately while the 4G variant is internationally price at 159 Euro or Rs 10,998 approximately. Shipments will start in April (next month).
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is the bigger version and its 3G version costs 189 Euro or Rs 13,074 approximately while the LTE version has a price tag of 219 euro or Rs 15,149 approximately. Both Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will be available in single-SIM and Dual-SIM LTE and dual-SIM 3G variants. Lumia 640 XL will also be available as a single-SIM 3G variant.
Currently, both the phones have the Windows 8.1 operating system but are upgradable to Windows 10 version. Microsoft Lumia 640 offers a 5 inch display while the 640 XL comes with 5.7 inch touchscreen – both have high definition Resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Sunlight readability enhancements. Also both the phones offer 1 GB RAM and 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon quad 400 core processor.
The Lumia 640 offers an 8 Megapixel rear camera while the 640 XL has a 13 megapixel rear camera. In the front the Lumia 640 has a 1 megapixel camera while the other has a 5 megapixel camera.
The Lumia 640 measures 141.3 x 72.2 x 8.85 mm and weighs 145 grams with a 2500 mAh battery. The Lumia 640 XL measures 157.9 x 81.5 x 9.0 mm and weighs 171 grams with a 3000 mAh battery. Both the phones offer 8 GB of Internal Memory and an expandable storage slot that can handle a micro SD card of up to 128 GB. Also both of them offers Bluetooth, WiFi, DLNA, Miracast, and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou.
Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL customers will be able to access new Windows 10 features and innovation through the Windows Insider Program, as well as upgrade to Windows 10 later this year. Key features and improvements of Windows 10 include new universal apps such as Office, Mail and Calendar, and Photos; Internet Protocol-based Messaging from Skype and others integrated directly into the messaging experience; an entirely new browsing experience with the new Project Spartan browser; and extended integration of the Cortana personal assistant.
Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL also come with a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, which includes the latest Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote) on the Lumia as well as on one PC or Mac and one tablet, plus 1TB of OneDrive storage, and 60 free minutes of Skype Unlimited Worldwide calling per month.
Lumia 640 XL will begin rolling out globally in March and will be available in matte cyan, orange and black, as well as both matte and glossy white. Lumia 640 will be available starting in April and will be available in glossy cyan, orange and white, as well as matte black.
