After launching the YU Ace as its first smartphone in three quarters, Micromax sub-brand YU looks to be making its debut in the TV sector. The first YU-branded TV has now been listed at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and is labelled as YUPHORIA S.
Spotted first by Mysmartprice, YU’s first TV will be a 32-inch LCD TV as suggested by the model number 32YUPHORIA S. The device was listed on September 20 and it’s likely that this won’t be the only model that will be launched by the Micromax sub-brand.
The news comes just weeks after YU released the YU Ace smartphone, which was actually Micromax’s first smartphone in nine months. The company earlier revealed that they’ll be launching 13 new smartphones by March 2019. Having lost its hold in the smartphone market, it’ll be interesting to see Micromax try its hands in the TV business considering a lot of smartphone brands have devised their way into the sector like Xiaomi.
While Micromax has had its own TV lineup since 2016, this will be the first time we’ll see a Yu-Branded television. It remains to be seen how YU will compete with the current players in the television business which will most likely be the entry-level segment of TVs which come under Rs 20,000. We’re yet to have any official word from the company and know if the 32-inch YU YUPHORIA S LCD TV will be priced anywhere near the cheapest Micromax TV available in the market.
