Micromax’s first tablet, Funbook, which is currently available in retail stores of Delhi, on online shopping portal Snapdeal and on the Micromax website, will be available in retail stores across India from next week.
A Micromax spokesperson said to The Mobile Indian, “As of now Funbook is available in retail stores of Delhi but by next week Funbook tablet will be available in retail outlets of more than 50 cities. Apart from that we are also in talks with multibrand outlets to make our tablet available through their stores.”
The Micromax Funbook, which is priced at Rs 6,499, is very slim at 10 mm thickness and while the bezel around the screen is quite broad, the device is easy to hold thanks to its low weight (350 grams).
Being an Android 4.0 device, the tablet has only three physical keys, which are all hard keys (not capacitive touch buttons). Though they are easy to press, they are certainly not as easy as capacitive touch.
All the slots and ports – which include a Micro USB port, HDMI, SDcard slot, 3.5 mm jack and charging port – are situated at the bottom of the device. The company also supplies a micro USB-to-full-USB conversion adapter to connect the 3G dongle (which comes free with this tablet).
Funbook comes with a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor coupled with a Mali 400 processor and 512 MB DDR3 RAM.
For data connectivity, it has an option of WiFi and 3G connection through a dongle. You will also get a Tata Photon EVDO data card for free with the tablet with 1 GB of free data download for two months. The Micromax Funbook tablet is available in slate grey and black colours.
There is a VGA (0.3 megapixel) front facing camera for video chats as well. The Funbook will come preloaded with a number of apps like Documents on the Go, Adobe PDF, Adobe Flash, YouTube, Text Editor, etc.
