Micromax seems to be on a spree to launch smartphones these days. This week itself, it has brought three smartphones, the Canvas Xpress 4G, Canvas Amaze and Canvas Nitro 3. We have already compared the Canvas Amaze with the Lenovo Vibe P1m. Now let’s check out what the Canvas Xpress 4G offers against the newly launched Acer Liquid Z530.
Design and Display
Both the phones offer 5 inch IPS display with high definition (1280×720 pixels) resolution. The Acer Z530 measures 70.3x144x8.9 mm and weighs 145 grams but the exact dimension details of the Canvas smartphone has not been revealed by Micromax. But I don’t think there will be huge difference in the two phones in terms of dimension. The Micromax handset though could be a bit lighter as it has a smaller battery – a 2000 mAh unit compared to 2420 mAh unit of the Acer smartphone.
Look wise they are a lot different from each other. The Acer smartphone has rounded corners and is compact. But its back cover has been criticised as flimsy and delicate. The Canvas Xpress 4G is square type. It too has a plastic back panel as the Acer handset but its Chrome finishing and blue colour makes it a bit attractive.
Camera
Both the smartphones offer 8 Megapixel rear camera but in the front the Acer Liquid Z530 has an 8 megapixel camera while the Canvas Xpress 4G has a 2 megapixel unit. So theoretically, the Acer Liquid Z530 has an upper edge. But as usual, I must underline the fact that in camera department, figures don’t portray the actual picture. The Acer Liquid Z530 may be a better camera smartphone but without comparing the two in real life, it is quite hard to say.
Storage
They have exactly the same figures in this department as well. Both the Micromax and Acer smartphones offer 16 GB of internal storage, 2 GB RAM and an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro SD card of up to 32 GB.
OS and Processor
Both the handsets come pre-installed with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and I doubt if they ever be promoted to the next Android version – the Android Marshmallow. The Acer smartphone has a customised interface as well – called Liquid UI. At present, we do not know whether it is any good or not.
The Acer Z530 is powered by the 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6735 quad core Processor while the Canvas Xpress 4G runs by the 1 GHz Mediatek MT6735P quad core. Here owing to the higher clock speed, the Acer smartphone has a bit of an EDGE for sure.
Battery
As I said earlier, the Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G has a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery that promises 6.5 hours of 2G talktime and 182 hours of 2G standby. On the other hand, the Acer Liquid Z530 offers 2420 mAh Li-Po battery. Though, Acer has not revealed its output, owing to its larger capacity, the benefit of doubt should be given to the Acer smartphone as both the phones have 5 inch HD display and quad core processor and hence similar power requirements.
Connectivity and Other Features
Both the handsets have two SIM slots with 4G connectivity. The Acer Z530 has Bluetooth 4.0, AGPS, WiFi (b/g/n) and Micro USB port. It has additional DTS Studio Sound technology which will definitely appeal to music lovers.
The Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G too has dual SIM with 4G connectivity, AGPS, WiFi, micro USB port and Bluetooth but it doesn’t have DTS sound.
Wrapping up
The Acer Liquid Z530 at Rs 6,999 is slightly costlier than the Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G which is retailing for Rs 6,599. But for the extra Rs 400, you get a comparitively better front camera, DTS sound and a slightly better processor.
