Micromax Canvas XP 4G was launched in India earlier this week at Rs 7,499. It is available from Snapdeal. Meanwhile, at the same price Lenovo Vibe P1m is also available.
So let’s check out which one is the better value for money device at the said price.
Design
The Vibe P1m measures 141 x 71.8 x 9.3mm and weighs 148 grams despite having a 5 inch display and a huge 4000 mAh battery. It has a metal rim and a plastic back panel that comes with matte finish and thus should offer good grip.
The P1m’s body has a splash-proof, nano-coating technology that claims to protects the phone from everyday splashes and spills. As per Lenovo, its “hydrophobic layer ensures superior liquid repellency, leaving no weak points to attract moisture and corrosion”.
The Canvas XP 4G also has a plastic body with metal rim and a squarish design. Its back panel seems to have matte finish. This Micromax phone has a 5 inch touchscreen as well that comes with HD Resolution as the Vibe P1m. The Canvas XP 4G measures 142.7x 72.8 x 8.7 mm and weighs just 134 grams. But note that the Micromax handset has a smaller 2000 mAh battery.
To be frank, the Lenovo Vibe P1m looks a bit more stylish than the Canvas XP 4G (in pictures).
Camera
The Lenovo Vibe P1m has an 8 Megapixel rear auto focus camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera.
On the other hand, the Micromax Canvas XP 4G has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. There is an LED flash light in its rear as well.
Chipset
The Micromax Canvas XP 4G has a 1 GHz quad core Processor and 3 GB DDR3 RAM. It should be enough to run this Android Lollipop based phone smoothly as well as games. The Lenovo Vibe P1m also comes preinstalled with Android Lollipop operating system and a 64 bit quad core processor (MediaTek MT6735P) but it has 2 GB of RAM.
The Lenovo Vibe P1m has 16 GB of Internal Memory and an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro SD card of up to 32 GB. The Micromax Canvas XP 4G also has 16 GB of internal storage as well as an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro SD card of up to 32 GB.
Other Features
The Micromax Canvas XP 4G’s 2000 Li-Ion mAh battery is replaceable and it claims to offer up to 6.5 hours of talktime or up to 182 hours of standby. The Lenovo Vibe P1m is way ahead thanks to its huge 4000 mAh battery that claims to offer 23.5 days of standby and 16 hours of talktime on 3G networks while on 4G it claims to offer 20.5 days of standby or superb 16 hours of talktime.
Both are dual SIM smartphones and have 4G connectivity. They also have WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM radio.
Wrapping up
At first glance, you might think that the Micromax Canvas XP 4G is a better device as it is new and has higher RAM. But in my view, with bigger battery and a better front camera, the Lenovo Vibe P1m is a better choice at Rs 7,499.
