Almost a year after launching Canvas Knight, Micromax has now announced its successor, Micromax Canvas Knight 2 at Rs 16,299.
This happens to be the first 4G enabled smartphone under the Micromax brand (Yu Yureka too was a 4G phone but it is considered as a separate brand). The company also said that it will launch more 4G phones under other its series like Unite, Nitro, Fire etc.
Commenting on the launch, Vineet Taneja, chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics said, “With the launch of our new device Canvas Knight 2, the first in the 4G range, we are looking at driving the next wave of internet evolution in the country. Over the next few months, we are all set to launch a series of 4G LTE enabled devices across a range of price points each addressing unique needs of the Indian consumer. Our popular series of Canvas Fire, Unite, Nitro will gradually move to 4G offerings. With a comprehensive portfolio of quality 4G LTE enabled devices, we are confident of propelling the next wave of mobile internet ecosystem in the country.”
The new Micromax Canvas Knight 2 is based on Android Lollipop operating system and is powered by the 64 bit, Snapdragon 615 octa core processor. There is also good 2 GB DDR3 RAM and a 32 GB micro SD card slot that beefs up its internal storage exact capacity of which is not known at this point of time.
Further the Micromax Canvas Knight 2 has a 5 inch HD AMOLED Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; the back panel too has the tough glass covering. The phone also looks good in the camera department with a 13 Megapixel rear unit that has Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor and a Largan 5P lens. In the front it offers a 5 megapixel unit with Omnivision OV5648 sensor and the same 5P lens.
Note that there are two nano SIM slots in the Knight 2 that supports 4G networks (both SIMs). Reportedly, Airtel is offering 4G SIM for free with the phone alongside double data benefit.
Micromax has armed the Canvas Knight 2 with a 2260mAh battery that claims to deliver up to 7 hours and 45 minutes of Talk time and 335 hours of standby time. Powered with Cirus Logic Wolfson Stereo WM8998, the smartphone also promises the best in class experience for music aficionados and delivers clear, room-filling, deep sound.
