Micromax has earlier this week introduced its Canvas Amaze at Rs 7,999. At the same price, we have the Lenovo Vibe P1m.
Here we have compared the phones to check out which one offers the maximum return for the money spent.
Design
The Vibe P1m measures 141 x 71.8 x 9.3mm and weighs 148 grams despite having a 5 inch display and a huge 4000 mAh battery. It has a metal rim and a plastic back panel that comes with matte finish and thus should offer good grip.
The P1m’s body has a splash-proof, nano-coating technology that claims to protects the phone from everyday splashes and spills. As per Lenovo, its “hydrophobic layer ensures superior liquid repellency, leaving no weak points to attract moisture and corrosionâ€.
Micromax Canvas Amaze too is a decent looking smartphone with and its back panel seems to have matte finish. It does not have a thick metal rim as the P1m; instead its back panel has been extended to cover the side panels as well. It doesn’t have the splash proof feature either.
The Lenovo Vibe P1m comes in white as well as black color variant while the Canvas Amaze is available only in black color.
Display
Both the phones have 5 inch display with high definition resolution.
Camera
The Canvas Amaze has a 13 Megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 5 megapixel fixed focus camera. There is an LED flash in its back panel as well.
The Lenovo Vibe P1m has an 8 megapixel rear auto focus camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera.
So on paper, the Micromax Canvas Amaze has an EDGE over the P1m in the camera department.
Battery
With just a 2000 mAh battery, the Canvas Amaze is no contest for the Lenovo Vibe P1m which has a huge 4000 mAh battery. The Lenovo Vibe P1m claims to offer 23.5 days of standby and 16 hours of talktime on 3G networks while on 4G it claims to offer 20.5 days of standby or superb 16 hours of talktime. On 2G network, the phone claims to offer 19 days of standby or astonishing 36.5 hours of talktime. It also offers Power Saver Switch and Quick Charge technology.
Memory
The Lenovo Vibe P1m has 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of Internal Memory and an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro SD card of up to 32 GB.
The Micromax Canvas Amaze also offers 2 GB of RAM as well as 32 GB expandable memory but its internal memory is just 8 GB.
OS and Processor
Both the phones come with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system but have different processors. The Lenovo Vibe P1m uses the MediaTek MT6735P 1.0GHz 64-bit quad-core processor. The Canvas Amaze has the Mediatek MT6580 Chipset that comes with a 1.3 GHz quad core processor built in 32 bit architecture.
So though the Canvas Amaze’s processor has higher clockspeed, the MT6735T should offer better speed as it has been made in 64 bit architecture. Also the Lenovo Vibe P1m has the Mali T720 graphics processor which is much better than the Mali 400 MP GPU of the Canvas Amaze.
Connectivity
Both the phones come with dual SIM but the Micromax Canvas Amaze offers 3G connectivity while the Lenovo smartphone has 4G connectivity. Also the P1m of Lenovo offers latest Bluetooth 4.1 (Low Energy) while the Canvas Amaze offers the older version of Bluetooth – the Bluetooth 4.0, which has lower data transfer speed and consumes more power.
Both the smartphones have WiFi, WiFi Hotspot and GPS.
Wrapping up
To be blunt, it is quite a one-sided competition. The Lenovo Vibe P1m, except in the camera department, looks like a much better handset than the Micromax Canvas Amaze.
