Kodak entered the smartphone segment last year with a not-so-great IM5. But now the former-camera giant has brought a smartphone, which many will take notice of. The new handset, called Kodak Ektra, is set to be launched in UK in December at £450 or about Rs 36,894.
The noteworthy aspect of Kodak Ektra is its cameras – it features a 21-megapixel auto-focus primary camera with Aperture f2.0, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Phase Detection Auto Focus and HDR Imaging. The camera comes with dual-tone LED flash and is also capable of capturing 4K videos. In its front, there is a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
Further, the Kodak Ektra smartphone offers a 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 ) display with Pixel density of 441 ppi. It is powered by a Mediatek’s Helio X20 deca-core processor, which is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It also has an expandable storage slot. The smartphone gets its strength from a 3000 mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Kodak had launched TVs in the Indian market just in August this year and its first smartphone, the IM5, is also available in India at Rs 5,499. Also, India being one of the most important smartphone market in the world, we can expect Kodak to bring the new smartphone to the sub-continent as well. However, as of now there is no information about its launch in other markets including India. But we are keeping our fingers crossed.
