MapmyIndia launches Drivemate with anti-theft alarm, vehicle tracking feature

MapmyIndia's Drivemate also alerts the user in incidents like Harsh Acceleration, Harsh Breaking, and Harsh Cornering.

MapmyIndia, a service provider, today launched a Plug and Play device called Drivemate for car users.

Drivemate is a GPS enabled device and is controlled by a free companion mobile which is available on all majority platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows and also web. It can track and monitor vehicle’s position in order to help find the car in areas such as huge parking lots. With the help of MapmyIndia’s maps, it can also show the live location of the car and even show ETAs (Estimated Time of Arrival) in situations involving picking up and dropping your friends and family.

The device also covers some critical areas such as driver’s behaviour which is often ignored by devices in the category. It can alert you in incidents like harsh acceleration, harsh breaking and harsh cornering which can really help you introspect your driving habits and change it for the better.

Apart from this, it also focuses on vehicle misuse and offers anti-theft alerts. It can alert you in cases such as over-speeding and idling which are not good for car’s health. Also alerts when the device is unplugged from the car can be extremely useful in cases of both device and vehicle theft.

Drivemate also keeps you notify about your car’s health like battery voltage, servicing due date, pollution expiry alert, insurance expiry alert etc. and helps you get away with those confusing documents which are always hard to find. It also allows you to store important documents such as Driving License, Registration Certificate (RC), Insurance Policy and Pollution Certificate all electronically in the app itself. Not only the documents, you can even access service dealers for roadside assistance with just one tap in the app.

According to MapmyIndia, it only takes about 5 seconds to completely install the device which involves no wire cutting or any complex installation process. The device simply plugs into the OBD port underneath the steering wheel and that’s about it, you are done. As per the company, the device is universally compatible with all the cars sold in India in last 15 years. Also the device is easily sharable and can be moved from one device to another.

Coming to the price, MapmyIndia Drivemate with all the accessories and 1 year service with SIM/Mobile connectivity is available for Rs. 9,990 only. The max variant with additional features like one-tap car dealers and service assistance is available for Rs. 14,990. Regarding the warranty, DriveMate comes with 12 months hardware warranty and after that user needs to pay Rs. 2400 annually for the same.
