In the latest video teaser, LG has now hinted that the next flagship from the company will sport a big screen in a compact body frame. The South Korean handset manufacturer asked a bunch of people about their preferences for an ideal smartphone and claimed that all the mentioned features by different people will come in its next smartphone to be unveiled sometime in February. There is a high possibility that this smartphone is the LG G6 which has previously rumoured to be unveiled in February 2017. Apart from the big screen and smaller body form, the LG G6 will also come with waterproof functionality along with adequate reliability, as shown in the teaser. Further, the smartphone will be comfortable to hold with decent amount of grip and might also come with a dual-camera setup coupled with a Wide-Angle lens as it was the case with LG V20.
Yesterday, a report from ETnews claimed that the G6 will be unveiled on February 26, just ahead of the MWC 2017, with the official release to happen to start from March 10. However, the report also said that the initial launch will only happen in South Korea with the global launch to happen later in March 2017. Interestingly, a late March 2017 launch would still mean that LG will be out with it’s this year’s flagship weapon even before Samsung shows it to the world. LG G5’s failure in terms of sales was a big blow to the company and LG will try every bit this time to beat Samsung in the first half flagship race.
Recollecting all the previous rumours regarding the specifications, the recent image renders revealed that the G6 will come with almost same sized body frame but with a bigger 5.7-inch Quad HD display with a unique 18:9 ratio. This unique 18:9 ratio would make the display taller than a normal 5.7-inch display and would come with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. Further, the device is also rumoured to sport the latest Snapdragon 835 Chipset and would dump the previously adopted modular design. Interestingly, unlike many other OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), LG G6 is likely to retain the 3.5 mm Headphone jack and might also not go for USB Type-C for charging and data syncing. LG is also likely to keep the Hi-Fi Quad DAC for high-quality audio output via headsets.
Note that none of the above-mentioned specifications has been officially confirmed by the company as yet so we would request you to wait for the official revelation for authenticity.
