As promised earlier and reported by The Mobile Indian, LG has announced the Android 2.3.x Gingerbread update for its top of the line Optimus 3D smartphone. The specific update for the glassless 3D display offering Optimus 3D brings enriched 3D experience with 3D Video Editor and also enhanced HSPA+ speeds.
The update roll out is taking place in gradual manner and Optimus 3D owners will receive it over-the-air. While the competitors have already rolled out or in process of rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, LG is now trying to catch up with them.
The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Optimus 3D promises faster data services that includes real-time streaming and smoother Internet connectivity of up to 21Mbps with enhanced HSPA+ support.
Boasting the dual-channel and dual-memory architecture inside the chassis, the Optimus 3D smartphone finally gets 3D Video Editor that will let users access, edit and create 2D as well as 3D movies. While users are at it, the preview screen has been given a transparent user interface for capturing the 3D content properly.
While recording a high quality video in 2D mode, the camera will now offer a video stabilisation feature which was previously available in 3D mode only. Though it took a while, finally Optimus 3D does play the catch-up game with the HTC EVO 3D, its close competitor. Let’s hope that such year long delays don’t occur with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich roll out.
