LG G6 which was first unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress will soon land in India. The company has set up a pre-registration page, not the pre-booking, where customers who want to buy the device can register themselves. Note that pre-registration only require you to send in a particular set of information such as name, email and contact number. On the other hand, pre-booking is where you have to pay a certain amount of money confirming your intentions to buy the device as and when it is launched.
Coming to the features, LG G6 actually kickstarted the concept of big display fitted in a small frame. The G6 comes with a screen size of 5.7-inch Quad HD+ Full Vision display which gives a screen aspect ratio of 18:9 along and a screen resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB of RAM and two storage variants of 32GB and 64GB which can be further expanded up to 2TB via MicroSD card. The device comes loaded with a dual-camera setup at the back which consists of a 13-megapixel wide angle lens with Aperture f/2.4 and 125-degree view and a 13-megapixel standard camera with f/1.8 and standard optical Image stabilisation (OIS). For the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera with a wide viewing angle of 100 degrees and an aperture of f/2.2. The smartphone runs on latest LG UX 6.0 built on top of Android 7.0 Nougat with Google Assistant.
For the stamina, LG has given in a 3300 mAh battery inside with Quick Charge 3.0 support and LG has made sure that this battery is safe, courtesy of heat pipes installed underneath which is made from the thermal conductor for transferring heat away from the processor.
Interestingly, LG is also working to implement 3D-facial recognition to its latest flagship.According to a report, LG is partnering with a lesser known firm called Oez to deploy the facial recognition technology for the smartphone. Further, both the companies are also working together to roll out this feature on other LG smartphones including the V20 and G5.
We are not sure about the pricing yet but if we look at the global prices for the G6, a GSMArena report states that the 4GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant will be available for around $750 (approx. Rs 50,100). We expect the South Korean giant to price the device somewhat similar in the Indian market especially when Samsung Galaxy S8 is launching in India as soon as tomorrow. As a wild guess, what about Rs 49,990? What do you think?
