LG has finally announced that the LG G3 smartphone, which comes with faux metallic finish, will be made available in several countries, including India, next month. All new LG G3 boasts of the 5.5-inch Quad-HD Resolution display and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 mobile chipset. LG G3 is expected to be available on July 27 onwards. The LG G3 will reach the Asian consumers of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines followed by rest of Asia, Europe and the Middle East. LG will offer the G3 in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, and Burgundy Red color options.
The 8.9 mm thick LG G3 offers a metallic-finish chassis and thin bezel and thus weigh 149 grams. The G3 offers a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS display sporting 2560×1440 pixel resolution and offers crisp clarity of 538 pixels per inch. Indeed, the G3 is slightly bigger than flagship smartphones of other companies but not way too large.
The G3 is powered by a quad-core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 mobile chipset. It comes in two configurations – a 16 GB on-board storage model bearing 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM and a 32 GB on-board storage model with 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM.
However, for India, the LG G3 will be offered in 16 GB on-board storage option initially. We can expect 32 GB on-board storage option with 3 GB RAM to arrive later this year. Obviously there will be price parity between both the devices.
On the software front, LG has integrated all the modern UX features including the Knock Code for unlocking the phone with custom knocks. LG has added new Smart Keyboard that aims to reduce the input errors by 75 per cent. The UX also offers Content Lock to safeguard some private and critical information on the phone and a Kill Switch feature to remotely wipe the phone incase of loss/theft.
LG G3 has a 13 Megapixel rear camera and two LED Flashlights. LG has integrated the Optical Image Stabilisation Plus (OIS+) feature in this camera just like the one in LG G Pro 2. With G3, LG has also introduced new Laser Auto Focus that claims to deliver sharp images and minimal noise. We presume the camera can easily record Full HD videos but the specifications do not show any clarity on whether the camera can capture 4K resolution videos.
For connectivity, LG G3 offers support for 4G LTE networks and packs top of the line WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support for faster mobile web experience. Other features include Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X), Near Field Communication support, GPS with A-GPS as well as GLONASS support and USB 2.0 with SlimPort support.
Unlike the LG G2, this year LG G3 will arrive with 4G (LTE) support for the users to try out faster mobile web experience available only in handful regions of India.
