Korean handset maker, LG has launched the Google Play Edition of its G Pad 8.3 tablet. This means that the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition will come with pure Android 4.4 KitKat operating system without the Optimus user interface as found in the LG G Pad 8.3 version. Being a Google Play Editions, the tablet will also get priority in terms of important updates over other devices with handset maker specific customisation.
With this LG has now in the club of HTC and Samsung who had launched Google Play Edition of their devices in the past as well to deliver the pure Nexus Experience. LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is already on sale in the United States for $350 (Rs 21, 463 approx.).
The G Pad 8.3 packs an 8.3-inch IPS LCD display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. LG has powered this tablet with quad-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 mobile processor with 2 GB RAM. The tablet has a 5 megapixel camera at the back to click high quality images and record 1080p HD videos. The front facing 1.3 megapixel camera allows making video calls.
LG has packed a 4600 mAh battery in the tablet which weighs about 338 grams. The 8.3 mm thin LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition will be offered in Indigo Black colour. This G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition tablet competes with the Apple iPad Mini with Retina display.
