Lava Mobiles has formally introduced the new X series of smartphones by formally unveiling the Iris X1. After teasing the images of the Iris X1 over social networks, the smartphone is finally launched for Rs 7,999. The Lava Iris X1 carries the Iris series styling and features 4.5-inch display, quad-core mobile Processor and most importantly, runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. Lava Iris X1 is set to compete with the Motorola Moto E for Rs 6,999, Micromax Unite 2 for Rs 6,999 and Nokia X which is being sold for roughly around Rs 6,999.
The new Lava Iris X1 takes the design inspiration directly from the previously released Iris 30 Pro. The Iris X1 features a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with 854×480 pixel resolution. Lava has powered this handset with a quad-core 1.2 GHz Broadcom mobile chipset paired with 1 GB RAM. The basic configuration is good enough to run the Android 4.4.2 KitKat, at least theoretically.
The Iris X1 offers 4 GB on-board storage, out of which some would be reserved for the system and user would get about 1.5 GB of usable storage. The memory card slot allows adding up to 32 GB micro SD card. This capability can be best used to store the images captured using the 8 megapixel rear camera. At the back panel , there is an LED flash as well. The 8 megapixel camera comprises of BSI+ sensor to ensure better quality images and videos compared to the rival devices. The front facing 2.0 megapixel camera basically aides for engaging in video calls.
Iris X1 offers dual SIM configuration with a support for one 3G network enabled SIM module. Other features include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and USB On-the-Go support. Lava also boasts of Dual MIC setup for active noise cancellation.
Lava Iris X1 comes with 1800 mAh battery packed inside the stylish chassis offered in Black and White colour options. Lava Iris X1 will be available exclusively from Amazon.in website and the buyers also get a free 16 GB card for the orders placed on 27th May. Later the phone will be made available through multi-brand retailer outlets and retail chain stores across the country.
