Lava has launched a new Android smartphone, called Iris 501, in India. The handset comes with a 5 inch WVGA (800×480) screen, 1 GHz dual core processor, 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA camera in the front. A 2300 mAH device powers the phone.
Lava Iris 501 is based on Android 4.0 (ICS) operating system and comes with a free 4 GB micro SD card. The phone gets all the normal features like GPS, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi etc.
The Iris 501 however lacks any outstanding features that some of the recent budget smartphones from other Indian manufactures have like the IPS display, large battery or the latest Android version. The phones specification is comparable to that of the original Micromax Canvas A100.
Though we do not know the RAM amount in Iris 501, we suspect it would be 512 MB which is common across most budget devices these days.
While Lava is yet to announce the price, we expect it to be priced below Rs 9,000 as most other handsets above this price have better features.
