Lava has launched a new entry level Android phone, called Iris 401e. The smartphone comes with a 4 inch display with 480×800 resolution. It is currently available for Rs 4,249.
The dual SIM phone is powered by a 1 GHz Processor and 256 MB RAM. It has 2G (EDGE) connectivity only and runs on Android 2.3 which was expected given the low RAM.
Lava Iris 401e comes with a 3 megapixel rear camera with LED flash but there is no front-facing camera. It has a 1500 mAh battery.
Iris 401e comes pre-installed with applications such as Saavn, WeChat, Ninja Rush, Dragon Hunter, Space Off and Lava Zone. There is pre-installed Android Browser as well as Opera Mini in the phone.
The phone disappoints with its outdated operating system; Samsung Galaxy Star, which is priced alike, comes with smaller display but latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Even the Karbonn Smart A2+ offers better RAM and Android 4.0 OS despite being costly by Rs 300 only.
