The smartphone has a 5 megapixel camera and a flash light in the rear panel while a 2 megapixel camera is in its front. It has a 2000 Li-Po battery that claims to offer 9 hours and 40 minutes of talktime on 3G networks.

The Lava Flair Z1 has WiFi, 2.0 port, GPS, WiFi Hotspot, 2.1 and a 3.5 mm jack.

Competitors:

Not many smartphones below Rs 6,000 offer such combination. There are few phones under Rs 6,000 which come with Android Lollipop operating system along with a quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. Interestingly when I searched for such phones I stumbled upon the Xolo Prime, which is a subsidiary brand of Lava.

The Xolo Prime offers almost similar specs except that it has a 0.3 megapixel selfie camera and a smaller 1800 mAh battery.

Karbonn Titanium Dazzle 3, which costs about Rs 300 more than the Lava Flair Z1, offers an 8 megapixel rear camera, 5 inch display but a smaller 1750 mAh battery. All other features remain the same as in Flair Z1.

But one of the biggest competitors of Lava Flair Z1 is the Moto E (2nd Gen). Just yesterday, Motorola slashed the 3G and versions’ price by Rs 1,000. Now the 3G version of the phone costs Rs 5,999, very close to that of Flair Z1. The Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) offers dual SIM, 5 megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front camera, 4.5 inch IPS display with quarter HD resolution (540×960 pixels), and a 2390 mAh battery. There is 8 GB of internal storage, 1 GB RAM, and 32 GB expandable memory option in the Moto E (2nd Gen). The Android Lollipop based smartphone runs on the 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 quad core processor.

Note that the Moto E (1st Gen) now costs just Rs 4,999 but it doesn’t have a front camera.

Other Android Lollipop smartphones which may give a tough competition to the Lava Flair Z1 are the Spice Dream Uno H (Rs 4,999), Micromax Canvas Spark (Rs 4,999), ZTE Blade Qlux (Rs 4,999), and Karbonn Sparkle V (Rs 4,976) – all of which offer Android Lollipop operating system.
