A computer monitoring service for parents called WebWatcher has been launched by Awareness Technologies for Android devices.
Parents can use this App to keep track of all the SMSs being sent to and from their kids’ Android phones. The WebWatcher app is already available for BlackBerry phones and the company also plans to release an iPhone version soon.
“We’ve created a simple way for parents to stay informed about who their children are interacting with via text messages and what they’re communicating to ensure they aren’t victims of cyber bullying or involved in inappropriate behaviour like sexting,” said Brad Miller, chief executive officer and chairman of Awareness Technologies.
The WebWatcher app can be installed easily and many children’s SMS activities can be accessed through one WebWatcher online interface.
The app uses keystroke logging technology which sends an email to parents whenever the app comes across any alarming words.
In terms of parental control technology, WebWatcher is the leading program in the market.
