Karbonn Mobiles, a local handset player, is planning to launch Android-powered 3G smartphones in the first quarter of next year.
Shashin Devsare, executive director, Karbonn Mobiles, said, “We are extremely upbeat about the Indian market and are planning to launch 3G smartphones on the Android platform shortly.”
The company has also announced the launch of 10 new mobile phone models in the price range of Rs 1500 and Rs 5000. The new range from Karbonn consists of a variety of touch, QWERTY, multimedia and music phones.
The new range includes the Karbonn K1414, a touchscreen phone; the Karbonn K25i, a Wi-Fi enabled, QWERTY phone; the Karbonn K111, K11 and K514, which are multimedia phones; and the Karbonn K550i, K424, K343, K316, which are music phones. The Karbonn K451i is a phone that offers a great battery backup.
Pradeep Jain, managing director, Karbonn Mobiles, said, “We plan to get even more aggressive with fresh initiatives to ramp up our operations and aim to double our sales by the first quarter of the next year.”
Karbonn Mobiles, launched in March 2009, is a joint venture between Delhi based Jaina Group and Bangalore based UTL Group. Karbonn already has over 550 service centers established across the country.
