Karbonn launches A18 with Android ICS

The phone boasts a 4.3 inch screen, 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, 1500 mAH battery and is priced at Rs 12,990.

Karbonn Mobile has launched its third smartphone, called Smart A18, market priced at Rs 12,990, however it is available online at Rs 9790. The phone is based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and comes with 4.3 inch IPS (In Plane Switching) for wide angle viewing. The screen has a decent 800×480 resolution. Notably, it has a 5 megapixel camera with features like burst mode and face detection and flash.

Karbonn Smart A18 runs on a 1 GHz and has a 1500 battery, 3.5 mm jack, 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling, (HSPDA-7.2mbps), WiFi with WiFi Hotspot, USB tethering, expandable memory upto 32 GB, and like Gravity sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor. The Karbonn Smart A18 comes with dual capabilities where SIM 1 supports 3G while the second SIM supports 2G network.

In terms of apps, the Smart A18 comes preloaded with the Karbonn Smart Browser, King Soft Office, NexGTv (Mobile TV), and PayTM (for prepaid recharge). The phone has SAR rating of 1.5watt/KG which is in fact better than the current regulation of 1.6 watt/kg as prescribed by Government of India.

The phone will compete against the likes of Micromax Superfone A90 which has Amoled screen but has the same size as Smart A18. The Micromax Superfone A90 has also a 1 Ghz processor and is priced at Rs 12,990. There are other phones from Micromax and Spice in the same price bracket which will also be vying for buyer attention.
