JioPhone pre-bookings start from today: How to pre-book, security fee, key features and more

Reliance Jio will start taking pre-bookings of its latest JioPhone starting today in India. The 4G-enabled feature will be available to pre-booking from both online and offline channels starting from 5:30 PM onwards.

However, people who are interested in buying the feature phone still has a lot of queries ranging from the process of pre-booking to mode of payment to the delivery of the phone. Here are some important things you need to keep in mind before opting for a JioPhone.

How to Pre-book the JioPhone?

Reliance JioPhone will be available for pre-booking from both online and offline channels. Starting with the online first, users need to download MyJio or they can visit company’s official website. The company has already created a dedicated page for the pre-booking, which will go live at 5:30 PM today.

If you want to pre-book the phone from its application then you first open the app and you will see a Pre Booking Screen. Click on pre-book button and then it will take you to a page where you need to enter your mobile number along with the code where you want it to be delivered. Click proceed and you will be shown multiple options for making the payments. Once you are done with it, then you will receive a confirmation message of successful booking of the phone.

Coming to the offline mode, users need to go to their nearest Reliance Digital stores or Jio retailers for pre-booking of the phone.

Do I have to pay some amount at pre-booking?

Yes, one needs to pay a sum of Rs 500 for pre-booking from the online or offline channel. However, the amount will be adjusted against the security deposit at the time of delivery. Further, users need to pay Rs 1000 at the time of delivery of the device.

Is the security deposit refundable?

Yes, the security deposit is fully refundable and a JioPhone user can get a full refund of the security deposit of Rs 1,500 by returning the used JioPhone. Interestingly, users can use the device for 36 months. However, there is no information about what will happen if the user exceeds the 36 months duration.

What are the offers?

Once you buy a JioPhone, you need to recharge for Rs 153 per month in order to get free voice and unlimited data. Further, there two sachets, one with Rs 24 for two days and Rs 54 plan for a week. Users will enjoy the same benefits as the monthly recharge of Rs 153.

Will it be the first-come-first-serve basis?

Yes, the company has revealed the phone will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. So, it is important to pre-book the device as soon as possible. Secondly, the device will be only available from September this year and the company has promised that 5 million JioPhones will be made available every week.

How many apps will the JioPhone support?

The Reliance JioPhone comes pre-loaded with the Jio suites of apps including JioTV, JioMusic, JioCinema and more. The company says that the feature phone will also include some of the most popular instant and social networking apps, to ensure consumers continue to enjoy the best services.

What are its key specifications?

The JioPhone comes with a voice assistant, which makes it easier to interact with the feature phone. Through the voice assistant, one can make calls, browse the internet and listen to music and more.

Coming to the specifications, the JioPhone features a 2.4-inch display with a screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core which will either Spreadtrum SPRD 9820A or QC8905 along with Mali 400 GPU. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via card.

On the camera front, the device comes loaded with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. It is juiced up by a 2000mAh battery, which the company claims to give a of 12 hours and of 15 days. On the connectivity front, it supports VoLTE, 4.1 with BLE, GPS, NFC and 2.0. It supports 22 Indian languages and the device will also come with TV-Cable that will allow users to connect their JioPhone with TV ( not only Smart TVs but also CRT TVs) to watch live TV. The company has priced the TV pack for Rs 309 per month.
