Reliance Jio has informed Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that its Welcome Offer will end this December 3 but its subscribers will continue to enjoy free voice and data services till December 31 of this year.
What this means that those who get their Jio SIMs activated after December 3 will not get free voice and data for the remainder of the month but if you have activated your Jio SIM before that you can enjoy free voice and data till December 31.
“As per RJIL’s filing with the TRAI, the JIO WELCOME OFFER (“JWO”) will be available to all the customers for subscription till 3rd December 2016. RJIL wishes to reconfirm that JWO benefits of free unlimited voice and data will continue to be available to all subscribers till 31st December 2016,” Jio said in a press statement.
“The consumers, who cannot subscribe to the RJIL services till 3rd December 2016 will continue getting opportunities to avail new offers and tariff plans from RJIL,” it further added.
So if you get the Jio SIM post December 3, you have to opt for a tariff plan from the operator.
At the time of its roll out earlier in September, Jio revealed its tariffs which start from Rs 149 while the highest plan costs Rs 4,999 (check the image below).
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio claimed to have received communication from TRAI stating that the “tariff plans offered by it are fully compliant with regulatory norms of IUC compliance, non-predatory and non-discriminatory”.
Note that rival telecom operators have been accusing Reliance Jio of predatory and discriminatory pricing.
