Jabra Elite 5 with Hybrid ANC launched in India: Top Alternatives

Jabra has launched its latest set of TWS earbuds in India, called the Elite 5. Jabra says that its latest set of TWS earbuds makes it possible for individuals to fully focus on the task at hand, thanks to the new Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation. Apart from that, the buds support Multipoint, Google Fast Pair and more.

The Jabra Elite 5 has launched in two colours, Titanium Black and Gold Beige on Amazon from February 10, 2023 at a price of Rs 14,999.

The Elite 5 from Jabra were launched back in September of 2022. They have Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and is powered by the Qualcomm QCC3050 Bluetooth chipset. The Hybrid ANC uses feedback microphones on the inside of the ear, and feedforward microphones on the outside. The ANC performance is therefore less sensitive to how you position the buds in the ear and it ensures a more reliable noise cancellation across a wider range of frequencies, claims the brand.

The buds have a 6-microphone setup for calls with external mics that are active all the time, and internal ones that help you deliver your voice clearer when its windy. Next, you get 6mm speakers and Qualcomm Audio, and SBC codecs. The brand has also collaborated with Spotify to offer users Spotify Tap Playback. 

Then, the buds support Bluetooth Multipoint, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift pair, Google Assistant, and Alexa Built-In activated through voice. The buds have a 7-hour play time with ANC on (28hrs with case). The buds also deliver a customizable EQ, and can handle rain as they boast an IP55 durability rating. You can charge the earbuds via a USB-C port or via Qi-certified Wireless Charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro are priced at Rs 16,990, and are equipped with custom two-way coaxial speakers and support 24bit Hi-Fi audio with Samsung Galaxy devices running on 12-based One 4.0 or higher. These TWS earbuds also come with 360 Degree audio support with Direct Multi-channel. This feature is lacking on the Elite 5 TWS.

The earbuds feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and are equipped with three high signal-to-noise ratio microphones. The charging case packs a 515mAh battery whereas both earbuds house a 61mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are claimed to last a total of up to 29 hours of listening time (ANC off) and up to 15 hours of (ANC off) with the charging case. The earbuds have an IPX7 rating for water resistance.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro support Bluetooth v5.3 wireless connectivity. They include the company’s Auto Switch feature that can be used to effortlessly switch between a TV connection and answering a call on a Samsung phone. The earbuds are compatible with Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi (SSC HiFi), AAC, and SBC codecs, according to the company.

Priced at Rs 10,999, the Oppo Enco X2 TWS earbuds have a dual driver setup with an 11mm dynamic driver paired with a 6 mm planar diaphragm driver. The Enco X2 uses Bluetooth 5.2 with LHDC 4.0 transmission protocol. This enables the TWS earbuds to support a code rate of up to 900kbps. It also offers support for the usual AAC and SBC audio codec.

You get multiple levels of noise cancellation including Smart Noise Cancellation, Max Noise Cancellation, Moderate Noise Cancellation, Mild Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, and  Vocal Enhancement. There’s a Three microphone setup on the Enco X2 which uses Bone Voiceprint AI to reduce noise during calls.

As for battery life, you get 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge with noise cancellation off. You can get 40 hours of playback with the charging case. The Enco X2 can provide up to 5.5 hours of playback on a single charge with Max Noise Cancellation and 50% volume and 20 hours with the charging case. The case can be charged using a USB-C port and also supports Qi Wireless Charging. These are IPX5 water resistant as well.

Priced at Rs 14,990 on Amazon India at the time of writing this article, the Sony LinkBuds S is one of the best alternatives to Jabra Elite 5.

Sony has integrated the Bluetooth Audio (System on Chip) and high quality noise cancelling in one single chip on the Linkbuds S. It has Adaptive Sound Control that senses where you are and what you’re doing, then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience.

The LinkBuds S houses a 5mm driver unit, featuring a high-compliance diaphragm. Furthermore, it supports High-Resolution Audio Wireless thanks to LDAC. Using Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence), DSEE Extreme upscales compressed digital music files in real time.

LinkBuds S support the Microsoft Soundscape app. The integration enables experiences for richer 3D audio-based navigation, while embedded in LinkBuds S allow for a true heads-up and hands-free experience.
