Earlier this year, various reports of Lenovo ditching the Moto X series for the new Moto Z series surfaced over the internet. However, later in June 2016, Lenovo confirmed that Moto X series is alive . Yet, we didn’t see any Moto X devices this year and we are not likely to see it as well. Interestingly, recent images revealed by Slashleaks, might be of the Moto X 2017.
As per the images, the device is wrapped around a metal body with a round camera frame at the back which is similar to what we saw on Moto Z devices. However, the device doesn’t sport pins at the back for Moto Mods. Also, Lenovo recently confirmed that the upcoming Moto Z devices will also come with the Moto Mods compatibility which further scraps out any possibility of this being a Moto Z device. At the front, it does house a Home button which is likely to come with a fingerprint scanner. The button appears to be more rounded as against more of a square shaped on the current Moto devices.
Moreover, according to the report, Moto X 2017 will be available in Gold and Silver color variants but there has been no information as to when the device will be launched. Further, specifications and pricing are also still beside the curtain and we will update you with any future updates about the new Moto X 2017.
Motorola didn’t launch any Moto X device this year after introducing Moto X Style last year. However, the company did introduce Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Z Play this year, two of which barring Moto X Force were recently launched in India. Moto Z Play currently sells at Rs 24,999 whereas the Moto Z comes with a price tag of Rs 39,999. Both the devices are sold through Flipkart as of now. The USP of these devices, if you don’t know, is the new Moto Mods. Moto Mods is Lenovo’s take on Modular smartphones concept. To know more about it visit here.
