Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been the most successful model of the company. Arguably it is one of the best selling cars in India as well.
Now with competition rising and new BS VI fuel norms in place, it seems Maruti has upped its game, as a revamped version of the Wagon R has been recently spotted. As per reports, the new version was spotted in Shimla.
From the spied pictures, it is quite evident that Maruti has choosen to keep the tall boy design. Besides, large windshields and oddly designed doors, the new Wagon R also sports swept-back vertical headlamps like the Wagon R Stringray.
It is expected to come with Maruti’s new-gen Heartect platform. Other than that it is expected to have a 1.0 liter engine. As per reports, it may hit the markets in the fourth quarter of this year.
Maruti reigns supreme in the Indian market. In the last financial year, Maruti sold 12.34 lakh passenger cars increasing its overall market share to 57 per cent from 52 per cent in the previous year, when it sold 10.96 lakh units.
Behind Maruti is Hyundai Motor India, which has a market share of around 20 per cent. Hyundai sold more than 4.27 lakh units against 4.11 lakh units in 2016-17.
