Apple just unveiled a new line of mobile hardware with the launch of the iPhone XS, XS Max, the ‘budget’ iPhone XR and a new Watch Series 4 with ECG. Along with the new set of hardware, the Cupertino company will also be pushing the stable versions of its software across all platforms and has now revealed the availability of all of its products.
Apple has announced the rollout schedule of theiOS 12which was announced during WWDC 2018. The new iOS 12 will start rolling out as early as September 17, a week after which Apple will seed the stable version of the macOS Mojave to all its Mac users from September 24. The company will also commence a new HomePod update as well as the rollout of the watchOS 5 andtvOS12 on September 17, all of which will be over the air updates and will be free to install.
Talking about the individual platforms, the iOS 12 will bring twice as fast app launches with 50 percent faster keyboard and 70 percent faster camera swipe. There will be new Siri shortcuts, Group FaceTime, Memoji, Screen Time and Shared AR Experiences. The new macOS Mojave on the other hand featured the system-wide dark mode that spans across various settings and apps, even the dynamic wallpaper which changes according to the time of the day. In addition to the redesigning, the macOS interface has been updated with security and privacy enhancements, stacks, themes and new apps.
The new Apple Watch Series 4 will come with watchOS 5 running out of the box but you can still download the interface on your older Apple Watch from September 17. watchOS 5 will enable a new Walkie Talkie feature allowing users to talk t their family members, heart rate sensor refinements as well as the ability to track more activities. The interface on the new Watch 4 will now have an ECG tracker as well as means to detect if a person fell to call for help.
The new tvOS 12 brings Dolby Atmos audio support with an extended catalogue of Dolby Atmos-supported movies. The update will also be able to sign you up to a Broadband network automatically with and ideates all supported apps available in a subscription.
The successors of theiPhone X– the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in India from September 28 in India while the slightly cheaper iPhone XR will be available in India from October 26. All three iPhones will be available through Apple Authorised Resellers in the country with options to bundle the devices with leather and silicone cases.
