iPhone app for GMAT preparations launched

Official application for GMAT preparation has been launched, it features a Game Center that lets you study while "competing" against other app users.

Now GMAT test takers can prepare for the exam using actual questions from past exams directly from their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The “Official GMAT” app, which costs USD 4.99(Rs 225), was launched today by Graduate Management Admission Council, makers of the GMAT exam.

The application features a Game Center, which allows you to scoreboard your practice-exam results and instantly compare them with other “Official GMAT” users. It also has hundreds of official test questions and full answer explanations from the makers of the GMAT exam.

There is also a question timer to let users practice to get a feel of real exam.

There are two modes of operations, Exam and Practice. The Exam mode allows you to focus on individual questions and take practice papers when you want. It also has an exam date “countdown” reminder, which lets you know about the exam date.

Performance tracking centre lets you track your performance on each “mini-exam” you take, so you can see your improvement. It also tracks your guesses (this is important because your score can suffer if you leave questions blank on the GMAT, which is given in a computer-adaptive format).

You can also get more 250 additional questions if you pay USD 9.99 extra (Rs 450). The application has been integrated with social media sites such as the official GMAT blog, Twitter and Facebook .

Users can register on mba.com directly from the app in order to compare schools, explore financing options, register for the GMAT and find other prep materials.
