The latest version of the iPhone, the iPhone 5 will start shipping from factories in China from this September, DigiTimes have reported citing industry sources.
Pegatron Technology has landed orders for 10 million units of iPhone 5 to become the second ODM (Original Design manufacturer) of the smartphone, DigiTimes added.
There have been several reports which suggested a September launch of the handset. What gives credence to these reports is the fact that so far Apple has made all the major announcement in the month of September only, just before the holiday season starts in USA.
The iPhone 5 will come with iOS 5, which will be the latest version of the Apple’s mobile operating system.
It will have bigger display, better Processor (dual core) and a much improved operating system with better voice and gesture commands. It is also rumoured that the iPhone 5 will be button less device.
Talking to ‘The Mobile Indian’, an Indian spokesperson of Apple said, “India is a focus market for Apple, while first generation iPhone launched almost a year later, iPad2 was launched within 2 months of international launch, and we hope that the momentum will continue”.
This clearly points to an early launch of iPhone 5 in India as well, although he refused to comment of iPhone 5 availability saying “we do not comment on our future products”.
