Adding to the piles of rumours already stacked up, the latest one suggests that Apple is reportedly working on a 5-inch iPhone for 2017 with vertical dual-camera placement. In case you are not aware, Apple might release three iPhone devices next year with two of them coming in at 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen variants and one with a 5-inch screen size.
According to a report by Macotakara, while the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variants will be called iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, the medium 5-inch variant might be the one which has been tipped as iPhone 8. Apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its iPhone lineup next year and previous rumours have suggested a design overhaul in at least one of the variants. Breaking the pattern, Apple didn’t go for the design change with the iPhone 7 which is why users are now expecting the company to do it next year with iPhone 8.
However, we are not pretty sure if the reports suggesting Apple’s plans to release three iPhone devices next year is authentic or not. Further, as per the report by Macotakara, Apple is yet to finalize the design and internals for the 5-inch variant so there is a possibility that this might be one of the many iPhone 8 prototypes which Apple is allegedly working on.
Interestingly, a report from Macotakara released earlier this month suggested that Apple might go for iPhone 7s instead of 8. However, this latest report now has clarified and spiced up the possibility of Apple releasing both iPhone 7s and iPhone 8 next year.
Meanwhile, a recent report from Korea Herald (South Korea’s biggest English Newspaper) revealed that Apple might bring in curved OLED displays in one of the variants after the US-based iPhone manufacturer ordered for only plastic OLEDs.
Going a little back, some reports claims that iPhone might be working with LG Innotek to bring 3D photography for the next iPhone 8. Further, the Cupertino-based company also previously acquired the Linx Imaging, an Israeli-based startup, which reportedly possess the technology for 3D cameras.
