The latest version of Apple’s famed iPad, called iPad2, is going to be launched in India soon.
Tim Cook, chief operating officer, Apple has said in a statement, “Apple, transitioning to the new iPad2 introduced on March 11, couldn’t make enough to meet demand. The shortfall LED to lower sales than analysts predicted. Apple is ramping up production as it prepares to start selling the tablet computer in 13 additional countries this month”.
It is expected that India is among the thirteen countries that Tim Cook was talking about. Vijay Sales, which is Apple’s premium resellers, had recently said in a Tweet that iPad2 will be available with them shortly. However, they have retracted in the statement since then.
Apple India spokesperson refused to comment on the launch date. When asked by ‘The Mobile Indian’ about the availability of iPad2 online on Homeshop18.com, he said that they are importing the device directly and Apple India will not honour the warranty till the time official launch happens.
He added that the devices bought before will get warranty post official launch. So people who have bought it already need not worry, but hope that official launch happens before they need to claim warranty.
Homeshop18 on its end has said that if Apple doesn’t honour warranty claim here it will ship the device back and get it repaired.
While this is a good news, the bad part is that you will have to wait for couple of weeks before you get your device back from repairs.
