A day after Mozilla announcement of its partnership with Spice and Intex to launch Firefox OS based smartphones in India, Intex has formally stated that it will launch a Firefox OS based handset for less than Rs 2,000 in India in August this year, reported the Economics Times.
Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, business head for Intex Mobiles, stated that the Firefox OS loaded smartphone is named as Intex Cloud FX. It will come with Dual-SIM configuration and will have a 3.5-inch display. This Intex phone is powered with an unknown processor and has 128 MB RAM coupled with 256 MB on-board storage.
Kalirona stated that the Firefox OS based Intex smartphone will be introduced in the first week of August at a price point of Rs 2,000.
Firefox OS based smartphones are expected to arrive in India from next month onwards at a very affordable price points. The noteworthy thing is whether the HTML5 based Firefox OS will be adopted by the immensely popular application developers.
