iBall has launched a new Android 2.3.6 based smartphone, called Andi 4.3j, in India. Apart from being a dual SIM phone, the smartphone also comes with two batteries of 1630 mAh and 900 mAh capacity, which are placed side by side inside the phone itself.
Andi 4.3j is priced at Rs 9,499 and offers video calling on 3G networks, a 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor, WiFi, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, A-GPS and Bluetooth with A2DP+EDR.
The phone also has Gravity, Ambient light and Proximity sensors. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera, and 2 GB Internal Memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB through a micro SD card.
Sandeep Parasrampuria, director, iBall said, “We are excited to launch for the first time in India a dual battery smartphone. Battery backup is the major problem to the smart phone users. Realizing the high utility of smart phones, long hour chatting and longer browsing we have launched this stylish dual battery phone to provide unhindered and seamless usage.”
The rationale for putting two batteries instead of a single large one is not really clear, however these two batteries does give it the highest capacity in its price segment. The phone, however, is still based on Android 2.3 which is not a great thing since most brands are now launching Android 4.0 based phone only, rest of the feature match well with what is available in this price range.
