Huawei unveils Honor 6X at the CES 2017, to be available in India soon

Launched at $249 (approx. Rs 17,000) in the US, the smartphone will be up for grabs starting today the US, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq.

As expected, Chinese handset manufacturer, Huawei has unveiled a new smartphone under its Honor brand – the Honor 6X, at the CES 2017. Launched earlier in 2016 in China, Honor 6X is by far the cheapest offering from Huawei boasting a dual-camera set up at the back. Launched at $249 (approx. Rs 17,000) in the US, the smartphone will be up for grabs starting today the US, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq. Although the India price and availability of the device are not yet revealed, the smartphone is expected to hit the Indian shores by end of this month.
Honor 6X
Quickly briefing you through the specifications, the Honor 6X comes with a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass protection. On the inside, the device is powered by a Kirin 655 octa-core (4 cores at 2.1GHz + 4 cores at 1.7GHz) with Mali-T830MP2 paired with 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. In both the cases, the internal storage is expandable via card.

Coming to the optics, which is the highlight of this device, the Honor 6X sports a dual-camera set up at the back with a combination of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. The set up comes with phase detection (PDAF), flash etc. At the front, there is an 8-megapxel sensor for selfies. The rear camera setup on the Honor 6X is more like the one we saw in HTC One M8. The set up lets you dig into and play with shallow depth of field and one can change the focus of an image post clicking it.

The smartphone runs on 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s Emotion UI 4.1 on top. The device is backed by a 3340 non-removable battery and comes with connectivity options such as VoLTE, 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS/ A-GPS. It is a Dual SIM device and comes with a hybrid SIM slot, meaning, it can either hold two Nano SIMs or a and microSD card. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back and the device measures at 150.9×72.6×8.2mm weighing around 162 grams.When available, the smartphone will come in Gold, Silver, Grey, Blue, and Rose Gold colour variants.
