Huawei unveils 13-inch MateBook with fingerprint scanner, NFC

The notebook features a 13.3-inch touchscreen bezel-less display that has a resolution of 2160 x1440 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent. The bezels on the laptop only amount to 4.4mm in thickness and the display features a 100 percent sRGB colour gamut and 300 nits of brightness.

Huawei has introduced a 13-inch MateBook laptop in China featuring a fingerprint scanner and connectivity.

The notebook features a 13.3-inch touchscreen bezel-less display that has a of 2160 x1440 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent. The bezels on the laptop only amount to 4.4mm in thickness and the display features a 100 percent sRGB colour gamut and 300 nits of brightness.

Huawei MateBook

Weighing in at a total 1.3 kgs, the MateBook is only 14.9mm on the thickest side and is 6 percent lighter than the MateBook X Pro. The device equips an NFC for additional connectivity which is placed on the right palm rest. With NFC, users can use their laptop to share files to and from their NFC-enabled smartphones at up to 30MBps. There’s a fingerprint scanner which is embedded onto the power button.

The MateBook is powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-826U with UHD620 graphics or an 8th Gen Core i5-8560U with NVIDIA MX150 graphics. The device is backed by 8GB and 256GB of SSD storage and is fuelled by a 42-watt battery. The laptop equips Huawei’s Shark Fin Fan 2.0 technology allowing the device to stay cool with two fans and two heat pipes to dissipate the heat from the inside of the machine.

Huawei is yet to reveal the price of the 13-inch MateBook as the device is yet to go for pre-order during December 2018.
