Huawei is planning to launch its first smart TV in April this year as per media reports quoting Huawei TV supply chain executive.
This move is on the expected lines as off late Huawei is trying to focus not just on Mobiles but on other personal tech products as well. To mark its entry in TV space Huawei will be launching a 55-inch TV and a 65-inch model.
As per the reports, the supplier of the smaller 55-inch TV is Beijing Oriental Enterprise (BOE)and of 65-inch screen is Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (CSOT).
It is rumoured that both the TVs from Huawei will come with dual camera setup for video conferencing, gaming and social connectivity. This seems to be interesting add on, but the company will have to do a lot answering to agencies and consumers outside China related to privacy and security as and when this feature becomes a realitybecause anyvulnerability or a bug the privacy of the whole familymight get compromised
Reports also highlight that even before stepping in the new territory, Huawei has set an annual target of selling 10 million TV. In all likelihood, if the company wants to achieve this target, India will be a crucial market. Of late we have seen Xiaomi consolidating its position in the TV market just because the Indian customers gave them a thumbs up.
Huawei is not the only handset player who is venturing into TVs space as OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo are also getting ready for it.
OnePlus was expected earlier to launch its TV in 2019 but not the plan has been pushed to 2020. Interestingly, OnePlus has already said that India is among the first market to get the TV and it will be available for purchase via Amazon India.
Not much is known about Oppo ’s and Vivo TVplan at the moment but we will keep you updated.
