After Nokia, Samsung, and HTC, Chinese handset maker, Huawei is set to bring two smartphones with Windows Phone 8 operating system soon. The phones are to be named as the Ascend W1 and Ascend W2.
The announcement of the Ascend W1 came from Huawei’s chairman of devices, Richard Yu. On China’s social network, Weibo, he mentioned that the upcoming Ascend W1 would debut this year for an amount which in equivalent of Indian currency is about Rs 17,500. It will be available in black, blue, pink and white colours.
Though the official word is only available for Ascend W1, reports suggest that the Chinese handset maker has also lined up another WP8 smartphone known as Ascend W2. Notably, Nokia and HTC have also announced to bring two WP8 devices each. And since Microsoft has set very specific guidelines for WP8 device, the Huawei phones are likely to sport hardware very similar to Nokia and HTC’s WP8 phones.
HTC 8X will come with a 4.3 inch screen, 1.5 GHz dual core processor and an 8 Megapixel camera. On the other hand, HTC 8S will have a 4 inch screen, 1 GHz dual core processor and 5 megapixel camera. Both the devices will feature 16 GB of onboard memory along with expandable memory slot for up to 32 GB.
No announcement has been made for any specific country, however since Huawei is very focused on India, we are hopeful that these phones will also make it to India.
